The project aims to improve literacy, general education resources and library access for over 700 rural Macedonian primary school students who currently go without curricula required books, lack of reference materials, and little interactive media. This project will provide the community with sustainable, permanent education supplies to improve literacy and general primary education for years to come.

Primary objectives of this project include:

· Improve first-language literacy among rural Macedonian students by providing curricula required books to primary schools.

· Improve English literacy by purchasing English literature at all levels for the school libraries

· Improve primary education in rural Macedonia by providing teachers with new maps, globes and reference books allowing them access to up-to-date information.

· Promote interactive teaching styles with interactive media, through the purchase of microscopes, a laptop, and a printer.

· Encourage students and teachers to use the library for studying, tutoring, and additional classes by renovating the space into a true resource and media center.

· Assist the student-run library club in promoting reading by helping them purchase new leisure books for their library

· Better education with school construction and renovations.

The Bemidji Rotary Club would like to thank Peace Corps volunteer and Bemidji native Tara Trepanier for presenting this opportunity to us and Bemidji Rotarian John Reff for coordinating the project.
